Drawn to the sea since his childhood in Kiel, Germany on the Baltic Sea, Stephen now resides on the Aegean Island of Rhodes since 1995. Two years with the German navy in which he circumnavigated the globe on a tall ship, further solidified his yearning for the sea and intensified his interest in maritime history and tall ships.

His studies on classical archaeology, ancient history, and art history, led him to Greece. There he works as a licensed tourist guide and lecturer in English, German and Greek with an emphasis on blending the cultural and culinary experiences that Greece has to offer.

The rich cultural history and culinary savoir vivre of the Mediterranean region, the Black Sea, and the archipelagos of the Northeast Atlantic, from the Azores to the Cabo Verde Islands, has always fascinated him. Since 2012, he has shared that passion as lecturer on the SEA CLOUDS. During the southern hemisphere’s summer, he also serves as lecturer on Antarctic voyages.
