CONCERTS AT SEA & ASHORE

This fall, guests can expect another special music festival when SEA CLOUD II and SEA CLOUD SPIRIT sail side by side for nine days. Selected artists on board and ashore will dazzle audiences with their mastery on these exquisite pianos.

The Steinway Artists

Steinway & Sons is dedicated to nurturing young pianists and supporting them through the Steinway Prizewinner Concerts Network. The competition takes place every two years and has been a launching pad for many successful pianist careers. With more than 2,000 artists as part of the Steinway Artist family, we are delighted to introduce four of the renowned talents that will be on board for our two journeys.

Equally adept on piano and saxophone, Chris Hopkins, born in Princeton, New Jersey and now based in Germany, impresses with his musical creativity and immense drive. With his swinging, melodic style, he has been a renowned fi gure on the international jazz scene for three decades. Having performed alongside jazz stars such as Scott Hamilton, Butch Miles, Hazy Osterwald, Till Brönner, and others, he has played more than 4,000 concerts worldwide. He has contributed to approximately 50 CD productions, many of which have received coveted awards such as the “Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik” and the “Prix de l’Academie du Jazz, Paris”. At the opening concert at the Automobile Museum in Málaga, Hopkins will stage a virtuoso evening, and aboard SEA CLOUD SPIRIT (Málaga – Casablanca), he will perform alongside Australian David Blenkhorn, one of the most esteemed guitarists on the international jazz scene.

Composer, multi-instrumentalist, and arranger Joachim Horsley is an extraordinary American pianist who uses his favorite instrument to transcend musical boundaries. He arranges the works of classical

music’s great composers and infuses them with Afro-Caribbean rhythms. “Beethoven in Havana”, an arrangement of Beethoven’s 7th Symphony in Cuban style, came to life after Horsley studied music in Cuba in 2015. This project led to two albums of classical-Caribbean fusion pieces: “Via Havana”, described as masterful by the French magazine Le Figaro and “Caribbean Nocturnes”. Aboard SEA CLOUD SPIRIT (Casablanca – Las Palmas), he will be accompanied by percussionist Murph Aucamp, who studied classical percussion but early on discovered his love for Cuban music, learning Rumba in the streets of Miami and South Florida.

Adventure on a two-day overnight program from Casablanca to Agadir from November 6 to 8, 2024.

Enjoy two nights and breakfast at Hotel Les Jardins de la Koutoubia in Marrakech; transfer to
Marrakech with a brief en-route city tour of Casablanca; city tour of Marrakech including a visit to the Medina and Souk, Majorelle Gardens, and Berber Museum; and a return to the ship in Agadir.
